It’s common for there to be confusion for patients around what is and isn’t covered under the Affordable Care Act.
Wellness Exams are supposed to be covered, but if you or your doc don’t have bloodwork done with the exam, it is not covered. Please note that if you don’t go for your bloodwork, you will be billed. If you find that your wellness exam was not covered at 100% it may be because the Affordable Care Act requires a mandated lab work with the exam that was not completed.

So when it comes to fees, doctors don’t always tell patients about them when performing their services. Overall, it’s good to be aware that how the visit is billed could be affected by how the visit is orchestrated and whether or not bloodwork is done.
